Purple Top Turnips are established in mid to late summer. Turnips can be broadcast into standing corn for grazing after harvest. Turnips and annual ryegrass make a good fall feed when broadcast into corn or soybeans before harvest. When being used for grazing, mixing two or more brassica together at planting will make a longer grazing period.
Turnip tops and bulbs are edible. Turnips are high digestible and are a good source of sulfur.
Planting rates: As a sole component - 5 lbs/ac; as part of a grass mix - 1-2 lbs/ac
